MAGNT Meeting Saturday, March 13, 2010 10 AM to noon
We have a change of location for this one meeting Stratford Woods Apartment partyroom 18701 Stratford Road Minnetonka, MN 55345
Is Today’s Paranormal Tomorrow’s Normal? And What Difference Does It Make Anyway? By Ira Gordon and Patrice Loney Up until 1904, the boundaries between science and mysticism were clearly drawn. Science was the study of the world as accessed through our five senses with the help of our intellect. Mysticism was what the world looked like when approached through altered states of consciousness. But, then, beginning in 1904 when the German physicist Max Planck discovered something he called “quanta,” the wall separating the empirical and the otherworldly sustained the first in what was to prove to be a long, escalating series of assaults. One hundred years later, the world as understood by 21st century physics is every bit as bizarre, as unexpected, as “unbelievable” as the worlds of Sadtha Sai Baba, St. Theresa of Avila, or the Don Juan celebrated by Carlos Castaneda. Out of body travel, unidentified flying objects, telekinesis, and communication with the dead are beginning to seem no more supernatural than the combustion engine, the internet, or heart transplants. And it’s not only shamanic phenomena that look different when viewed through early 21st century lenses, even something as unexotic as intuition has come to take on a new significance. This leads to obvious questions: Does the breakdown of the line separating the paranormal and the normal affect us in practical ways? Might that shift affect the ways in which we work? Play? Pray? Make love? Die? Are we all now capable of being psychic, of living more consciously, of performing miracles? In the next MAGNT conversation, on March 13, we will attend to these and related questions, both theoretically and experientially. [Please note however: no illegal activities are scheduled for this program!] We will watch excerpts from the film, What the Bleep? And we will have a go at exercises that focus on our “psychic IQ” and on ways in which our psychic abilities can be enhanced. Note: Due to the nature of the material being addressed at this MAGNT event, participants are advised to sleep well the night before and to eat a nutritious breakfast before showing up.
Saturday MAGNT meetings are free and open to the public. No need to pre-register. Just come and be warmly included. MAGNT, the Minnesota chapter of the Association for Global New Thought, offers activities to expand consciousness. Its purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people to create an awakened world. MAGNT is supported by local Unity and Religious Science churches.
Come to learn, to ask questions, and to engage in spirited conversation with the group. We look forward to seeing you.
