Topic: Shadow: Dark Side, Spice of Life, or What...?
An Exploration with Ira L. Gordon and Rev. Sher McNeal

Confronting our shadow is often seen to be something like intensive dental work: It's not fun; it would be great if it weren't necessary; but you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

And yet, in principle, shadow is no more a curse than sunshine. A world with no shadow would be a world with no light.

Why then, has shadow come to be synonymous with human shortcoming? Or -- in certain quarters -- with original sin?

Is there some polarity, hardwired into human nature that is ensnaring us here?

Please come to this joint inquiry prepared to roll up your sleeves and get a little dirty. In addition to the lively conversation customary at MAGNT events, you will be invited to participate in one or two laboratory experiments.

There are virtually no special requirements for attending this event. Anyone who has ever been inconsistent, ambivalent, or self-righteous is welcome.

About the presenters:

Ira L. Gordon is an aficionado of wholeness who is wont to be somewhat agitated when things don't mesh. In the recent past, he has laid claim to being a professor of philosophy, a Jungian astrologer, a playwright, and a dancer.

Rev. Sher McNeal is a staff minister at Unity Christ Church whose personal and worldwide goal is enlightenment. She is a strong proponent of the work of Carl Jung, who said, "Enlightenment is not about imagining figures of light but of making the darkness conscious."

Saturday MAGNT meetings are free and open to the public. No need to pre-register. Just come and be warmly included. MAGNT, the Minnesota chapter of the Association for Global New Thought, offers activities to expand consciousness. Its purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people to create an awakened world. MAGNT is supported by local Unity and Religious Science churches.

Come to learn, to ask questions, and to engage in spirited conversation with the group.

We look forward to seeing you.
